The Pet Parade will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017. 10:15 Assemble at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. The parade starts at 10:30 am and will go through Taos Plaza, the John Dunn Shops and end at Kit Carson Park. Please ensure that pets are leashed or safely caged.
Following the Pet Parade, the Costume Contest will be held in front of the Kit Carson Park Bandstand. Contestants will walk their pets in the show ring for judging. Costumes will be judged on Originality, Craftsmanship, Presentation, and Overall Exhibit. Ribbons and prizes awarded to the top four places as well as honorable mention ribbons and prizes.
At approximately noon, following the Costume Contest, there will be a Pet Blessing at the Kit Carson Park Bandstand. Pet Blessings are a long standing New Mexico tradition and are typically associated with St. Francis de Assis. Each pet will receive a St. Francis de Assis pendant with a clip to attach to their collar or cage.
The Taos Lions Club will be giving free rides to children on Tio Vivo Carousel.
